Parsons Counseling & Play Therapy Center has offices in Berea and Richmond, KY. We are seeking two mental health counselors working either 4 days a week or full-time to provide clinical services for children, teens, and adults in an outpatient setting with an emphasis on trauma/neglect, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. Parsons Counseling is committed to prioritize these clients’ and families in Madison County at our centers. We are also seeking counselors who have an interest in specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorders for children through adults and we will provide all training necessary to provide this expertise. We offer in-house training to assist you to specialize. The counselor’s responsibilities are to focus on quality client care and documentation. Our goal is that you do what you were trained to do and our administrative staff will take care of the rest answering the phones, scheduling, scanning, faxing, proofing professional letters, and other tasks that allow the counselor to focus on their clients and specializations.

Parsons Counseling believes in providing a high level of clinical care in a supportive environment. We offer a unique experience for clients by incorporating play and expressive therapy techniques such as interactive activities, art, sand therapy, and other creative techniques to increase clients’ mental health of all ages. We offer parenting education, groups, and a therapeutic playroom for 2-11 years old. We accept most private insurance and Medicaid. We offer clinicians a streamlined work experience with intakes, treatment plans, notes, and billing all electronic and efficient. We offered in house paid training by leading experts in the field. The focus is on exceptional service to our clients and not on paperwork.

Responsibilities

The counselor is directly responsible for the therapeutic needs and continuum of clinical care for their clients. The counselor is responsible for creating psycho social histories, master treatment plans utilizing their knowledge and expertise of DSM 5 to diagnose, and documentation in the electronic chart. Counselors are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with referring partners and community employment. Clinical responsibilities include family and individual therapy, facilitate group therapy sessions, document all services, attend treatment team meetings, and work closely with the clinical director. Must possess minimum technical skills including familiarity with Google apps, type 45 words a minute, and be a quick learner. Counselors will have about 55 minutes for each client session. Good typing skills, writing skills, and kind personality is a must.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree from an accredited program
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Associate or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or fully licensed in a related field and billable with private and medicaid insurances.
  • Knowledge and clinical experience with children, teens, and/or adults with mental health issues (trauma, anxiety, transitional issues, parenting, depression, borderline personality disorder, etc.)
  • Family systems approach
  • Play Therapy education/CEUs preferred or counselor is willing quickly obtain training at own expense and time
  • Interest and willingness to be trained in working with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD
  • Desire to learn to be a specialist in the mental health field

  • ADHD Testing
  • Autistic/Developmental Delay Disorder 
  • Intelligence/Adaptive Behavior Testing 
  • Learning Disability Testing 
  • Psychological assessment 

Parsons Counseling believes in providing a high level of clinical care to our clients and their families.  As we continue to grow we see the need for providing in-house assessments so our clients can use their insurance to cover the assessments.  Parsons Counseling mission is to assist the underserved to receive quality services and by adding a Psychologist we will be able to meet their needs. 

Qualifications

  • One year as a clinical psychologist
  • Doctorate Degree Psychology
  • Licensed Psychologist (KY)

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required

  • Skills to apply assessment instruments, intervene in crisis situations, provide counseling, interpret test data, and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of assessment instruments and their application, relevant education codes, state and district policies.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods, complete a case study and develop an individual education plan, be flexible, work under time constraints, work effectively with staff, parents, students and community, work independently. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/visual accommodation.

Other Job Functions

Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
