Karissa Anderson, M.A., LPCA, NCC

Associate Counselor

My favorite quote is, “There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”-C.S. Lewis. I believe it sums up my belief about therapy: my goal is help client’s reach a place where they feel excited about what the future holds and not weighed down by the past.

I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University. I am a National Certified Counselor and love working in the field of counseling. I enjoy strengthening my counseling skills and take any opportunity to gain more training in the field.
During 2016-2017 I worked with individuals with substance abuse issues. I found this to be very rewarding, I enjoyed seeing people change their lives and I loved being a support for them. I then worked as a therapist in an elementary school setting. During this time I found that I was also very passionate about working with children. Working in the school setting made me realize what a significant difference counseling can make both academically and behaviorally for children. I love working with children, adolescents, and adults. My professional interests include play therapy, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma, self-esteem, relationship issues, and grief/loss.
I was born in Canada and moved to Kentucky in 2001. I enjoy traveling and hope to do more of it in the future. I recently married my husband in October of 2017. In my free time my husband and I enjoy anything outdoors including but not limited to; hiking, camping, and kayaking.
I look forward to helping my client’s reach their goals and work towards a brighter future. I like to work with my clients and view therapy as a team effort, I want my client’s to feel heard and valued!
