Parsons Parenting 101
Many parents struggle with raising and managing their children. There are conflicts that arise between parents and children which are hard to navigate through without a plan. This class will allow parents to improve their parenting skills through examining their parenting role, have appropriate expectations, and explore their emotional thoughts and actions which affect how a parents’ handles stress. This class is interactive with a group leader lecturing, viewing three DVDs (“Building Relationships”, “Choices, Cookies, and Kids”, “123 Magic”, and “Surviving Your Adolescents”), group activities, and homework assignments to incorporate new skills into daily living. At the end of the sixth sessions parents will feel empowered with a plan of action to raise their children.
A 12-hour parenting class or offered individually which utilizes parenting education on how to discipline children along with taking an in-depth look at the parents’ anger, extended family dynamics, how to set boundaries, establishing rules and contracts, and catching negative self-talk.
2nd option: Healing to Thriving Parenting 101: If you are seeking a deeper understanding of your mental health issues along with learning parenting skills we can achieve this through one-on-one counseling about 20 sessions to obtain a parenting certificate.
Nurturing Parenting 0-5 years old
A 12-hour nurturing parenting class or individually focusing on age appropriate expectations, developing empathy, meeting child’s needs, identifying emotions, developing personal power, and discipline. This program follows many lessons from the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum.
Girls & Guys Invested in Friendships, Talents, Education, and Dreams
This is a program for middle school girls & guys. Group members will learn social skills, increase self-esteem, and learn different therapeutic skills to increase group members overall well-being. Group members meet in suite 7 next to Parsons Counseling & Play Therapy Center. This group is billed to Medicaid or $15 a session.
Soaring Eagles Support Group
This is a program for high school students. Group members will learn social skills, increase self-esteem, and learn different therapeutic skills to increase group members overall well-being. Group members meet in suite 7 next to Parsons Counseling & Play Therapy Center. This group is billed to Medicaid or $15 a session.
